It’s been a month since he found her in Bosuma with no memory of Recolle, or of him and the mistakes he’d made for the both of them. A month since she he’d helped her find a way out of the woods. A month since she’d remembered and immediately run away, leaving him alone and a little confused with a bunch of nosy dryads.
It’s not like he doesn’t deserve this, Leo tells himself after losing track of her yet again after class. It’s been three months since he made those mistakes, but ghosting on Futaba the way he did isn’t exactly his proudest moment. She doesn’t owe him time after that.
But he owes her an explanation. It’s about time he actually gave it to her.
Despite the steps she’s taken to avoid him, Futaba is still a creature of habit. Which means that all he really has to do if he wants to confront her about this is to break that, right? So one day, he skips class to go to work for a while instead, only returning around the time school is ending. Finding one person through a sea of relieved students isn’t the easiest task in the world, but Leo knows where her locker is and - sure enough, there’s her distinctive red hair. Before she can turn and run, he swallows his fears and walks up to her. ]
[ It’s been easy enough to keep her distance. Class is one this and unfortunately unavoidable unless she wants to skip the entire year and do something like hide out in the cave in the woods until summer. Except further examination leads her to conclude that wouldn’t work seeing how last time she tried she lost all her memories and Leo was the one to find her.
Awkward.
It’s probably a touch of both secondhand embarrassment for her amnesia’d self and just straight up avoidance of the problem that’s kept her away for so long and sure, she meant to eventually face him but. Not Right Now.
Of course, nothing ever goes as planned and Leo coming to her (again) wasn’t even a hypothesis on the table. Way to go Isshiki. (Maybe she just subconsciously wanted him to talk to her again and didn’t think about it) (Maybe she didn’t want to think about it) (Maybe she should answer him instead of creating and discarding theories into the depths of her locker) (…Maybe she should just vibrate out of her skin and ascend to another plane of reality)]
[Whoever decided that Baren gets to play around in Chuuya's body for a day really has a cruel sense of humor. Because here's Baren, taking advantage of the fact that NPCs don't really tend to notice things wrong with Retrospec, and he's totally walking horizontal to the ground. Other hints that maybe this isn't Chuuya: he's dressed like he just got off a runway because that's what happens when Baren gets to play dress-up, and some of the glittering accessories in his ear are definitely Baren's.
Oh well!
He's still going to spot Futaba at some point, and push himself off of the building's surface to happily skip his way over to her, silently and out of her sight, up until he can float upside down and tap the top of her head with a grin.]
