[ Fast forward a few days and Leo is rushing to his locker after last period, hastily shoving books inside. His bag is still wide open as he slams the locker shut and heads for the coordinates Futaba sent him. The nervousness has been driving him crazy, so even if she says she'd rather stay friends, he's ready to get it over with and find out where they stand.
It sounded like a yes? "You Could Be - The One" is pretty... up front? But this is the first time he's ever asked a girl out - maybe he's just reading too much into it?
Okay, well, whatever. Spotting her among the crowd of students, Leo takes a deep breath, puts on a smile, and hopes he doesn't look as nervous as he feels. ]
Truth be told, Futaba has no idea what she’s doing. Her reply had been on impulse with a good dose of internal (and external) screeching and a semi frantic search of how to use words when words were hard. Heck, she’d been half tempted to just send back one of those check yes templates filled out for lack of better reply.
But she likes Leo; he’s been a good friend where there hadn’t been many before. Spending time with him is a highlight of her day and she’s got no idea how well that’ll translate into something…. something more. But #yolo and all that. Friends to L- Partners is a common trope for a reason, right?!
Cue to this moment, standing in half terror, half panicked THIS IS AN AWFUL IDEA, ABORT ABORT frenzy. She’s had to much time to Think about the message she sent and she's not at all sure what she even meant by her own reply and- ]
H-hey!
[ ...... that was definitely a suave squeak just now. ]
[ So much for confidence?! She looks terrified, and even though Leo himself had said she probably wouldn't know the first thing about this stuff, he can't help the sudden swell of anxiety.
But damn if she isn’t still cute? Somehow??? That alone helps him keep the smile on his face.
...He couldn’t just stand here and smile at her forever, though, and words still escaped him. With an awkward silence between them, he throws caution to the wind and just. Stops thinking so hard about what to say, and gives her a lopsided grin instead. ]
[ So who knew she could turn red so fast. It completely clashes with her hair for that matter, but who's looking when she's got her face buried in her hands ]

[ any moment now the ground will open and swallow her up. aaaany day now. ]
[ The laugh takes him by surprise, but Leo doesn't try to stifle it, either. She's cute, god she's so cute, and suddenly this feels a whole lot easier. Leaning over, he looks up at her and tries to catch her eyes through her fingers. ]
Futabaaaaa, [ he calls, sing-song. ] Does that mean you don't want to go to the planetarium with me...?
[ Okay, so maybe there's still a little doubt in the back of his mind. But now that he's playing this by ear, his smile is far less nervous than before, and Leo still finds himself hoping for the best. ]
[ The vehemence takes even her surprise and she's left blinking at him, the receding blush coming back in full force. .....Oh. Well, maybe she does want this after all. ]
[ Curse you mortal flesh for betraying her like this as her face once again takes on a lovely red hue. No one ever mentioned how romance was so awkward. It's like all of her genius has fallen out while she just gibbers meaninglessly at him. Though to be fair she, Futaba Isshiki has managed to nab herself an honest to goodness date. A bit of hysterics should probably have been expected. ]

[ Excuse her while she flees before her mouth rends itself to further betrayal. ]
